GNSS MGEX data

RINEX Version 2 and 3 are the formats currently used by the IGS for operational data holdings. Previously, the Version 3 data were stored in a different archive location (cddis.nasa.gov/archive/gnss/data/campaign/mgex) as part of the IGS Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX).

The IGS established MGEX to track, collate and analyze all available GNSS signals, including Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou, as well as modernized GPS and GLONASS satellites and any space-based augmentation system (SBAS) of interest. Analysis centers estimated inter-system calibration biases, compared equipment performance and further developed processing software capable of handling multiple GNSS observation data.

The Version 3 data were originally archived using the short filename format, similar to Version 2 files. When Version 3 officially became operational, the CDDIS began converting the files to long filename format using the GFZRNX conversion software. The converted Version 3 files were then re-archived in the operational GNSS data subdirectories.
